Michele M. Shiflett
Writer & Story Coach

Michele is a screenwriter, fiction writer, and story engineer known for razor-sharp plots and morally complex storytelling. With a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, she brings a deep understanding of human motive, conflict, and emotion to every narrative she shapes—on the page and on screen.
She developed Framework First, a signature four-act story system rooted in The Hero’s Journey and refined for modern pacing and psychological realism. The framework helps writers build stories where character, plot, and theme reinforce one another—creating narratives that resonate long after the final page or frame.
Michele has collaborated with novelists, screenwriters, producers, and executives worldwide, including work in the Hong Kong market developing the catalog for Reel Short, a micro-short film platform now gaining traction in the U.S. She leads high-impact development intensives that merge craft, psychology, and innovation, empowering creatives to tell emotionally precise, structurally sound stories.
Her fiction—including her upcoming Southern Gothic psychological thriller Sheep—explores the moral wreckage that unfolds when loyalty and integrity collide, and neither side is clean.
Michele has been telling stories since she could hold a pencil—some might call it a gift, others an obsession. Her first taste of publishing fame came in sixth grade—a hard-hitting exposé of the mall's food court. (The journalistic integrity was questionable, but the flair was undeniable.)
She brings 15 years of experience as a writer and story consultant. She studied screenwriting at UCLA and has had her work optioned twice. Michele has also written and directed two short films that have enjoyed festival runs, published fiction and nonfiction across blogs and journals, spoken on industry panels, hosted writing retreats, and recently founded Creative Haven, a nonprofit focused on expanding arts access in underserved communities.
